Artist Statement:
From a young age, I had always been fascinated by the internal workings of everyday objects, ranging from household appliances, electronics, and everyday objects. This drives me to take apart everyday items to figure out how they were built and the purpose behind each of their components. This curiosity of mine slowly transformed into a hobby, where I started by building simple toys that my childhood self desired but could not afford, to making modifications to existing objects to better suit my personal usage.
For this reason, most of my experience and what I know about design are largely self-taught through years of trial and error. Due to the nature of my projects, it's not uncommon for me to run into challenges and difficulties along the way, where I encounter problems that I can't simply search for answers online. This forces me to be persistent and resourceful, to keep experimenting with different options until I find the solution. Over time, I have developed a unique approach that's both practical and efficient to tackle all types of design problems.
This is reflected in many of my projects, which are often built using materials not typically meant for that purpose. Since I don't always have access to specialized tools or proper materials, I have to find creative ways to work with what I have, needing to rethink and repurpose exciting materials and tools to achieve my goal. These constraints have become a key part of my creative process, having to optimize my available resources to their fullest potential, to achieve what I set out to accomplish.
